About Graylin Thorne:

A have been a senior Events & Project Manager in Toronto for over ten years, with a great deal of experience in high end hospitality, event operations, business development and client relations. During this time, I have led event production for multiple locations in large hospitality companies, managed many teams and planned a wide variety of events and activations, from high end corporate experiences like Canada’s Best Restaurants and Canada’s Walk of Fame, to live cooking demonstrations hosted by celebrity Chef Susur Lee and an array of Tiff after parties. I have always enjoyed the fast-paced, high-pressure environment, as well as the creativity of team building and business development. As such, I would like to eagerly apply for the position of Director of Events. 

Experience

In my most recent position as Program & Events Manager, one of my key roles was building a new program called the Webware Business Academy. I was in charge of the marketing strategy, content creation, program management and external events management (both virtual and in person) including location scouting, budget management, vendor relations, staffing, activations and design. In addition, over the course of the last year, I have co-created and co-hosted an internal Leadership Program, and managed all internal event projects including the team's quarterly goals, milestones and metrics.

Pre-Covid, I was hired to build a member-based program and to manage the partnerships with Forth Space Hospitality. The goal of this role was to create a new strain of revenue, by offering unique experiences for our VIP clients. These experiences ranged from custom suiting events, to live music, high end spirit tastings and thematic performances with menus to match. I was in charge of the program's membership sales, managing relationships with vendors and artists, running event activations, collaborating with marketing to meet objectives, and managing any media or hospitality partnerships. 

I believe that this experience makes me an excellent candidate for the role of Corporate and Special Events Manager. I would like the opportunity to apply my extensive experience in high end hospitality, event production and client relations, along with my positive leadership style, to provide support and expertise on company event goals, and elevate the guest experience. 

Education

My post graduate diploma in Corporate Communications, has developed my skills in stakeholder and client relations and introduced me to high-level event planning, which inspired me to pursue Event Production as a career path. 

I am also currently studying the basics of Project Management, so that I can take the PMP certification. I believe that further developing my PM skills will be valuable when planning large scale events.
