About Jace Guinto:
With an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and extensive experience in justice-related fields as well as BIPOC and LGBTQ+ spaces, I bring a diverse professional background in advocacy and the development of underrepresented communities and individuals. Specifically, my work with federal offenders during their rehabilitation process with The Salvation Army in Toronto, coupled with my role at The University of Tampa providing education and facilitating workshops for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ staff and students, has honed my skills in community engagement and building, advocacy, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed approaches. Additionally, I am deeply interested in law, justice, and the continued advocacy and development of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
Experience
More recently, I served as the Graduate Assistant at the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) at The University of Tampa. In this role, I oversaw Student Assistants during ODEI events, facilitated both educational and leisure workshops for staff and students, and contributed to creating a safe and inclusive space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Additionally, I have experience working with federal offenders transitioning back into the community. I ensured residents adhered to their parole conditions while providing trauma-informed care as needed. During my undergraduate program, I completed a summer placement with Bridging Borders with Inmates, where I supervised five Case Workers and collaborated with various local not-for-profit organizations to connect clients with rehabilitation resources.
Prior to these roles, I proudly served in the Canadian military as a Reservist Infantry Soldier, where I developed discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills that continue to inform my professional approach.
Education
I hold a Diploma in Community and Justice Services and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. After completing my undergraduate studies, I began pursuing a Master's in Criminology and Criminal Justice at The University of Tampa. However, I had to withdraw from the program due to relocating back to Toronto.
