James Ochieng

I am currently on open work permit as a temporary resident for an initial three years period having recently immigrated from Kenya, Africa with my Family following my wife’s successful admission to a five-year PhD programme at York University.

Prior to my immigration to Canada, I worked as the Manager, Accounts at the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) in Kenya having previously worked for the same organization as a Principal Accountant and earlier as an Accountant. I have also worked for the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) as a Project Accountant and as an Accounts and Administration Officer. All my previous employment has been in Kenya.

I have a cumulative work experience of twenty-two years, fourteen as an Accountant in various sectors and capacities and previous eight experience as a chemist and cost accountant in a Resin Production Plant. 

I hold an MBA Degree with a Major in Finance from the University of Nairobi, BSc degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, I am a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya in good standing, a Certified Internal Audit Assessor, an ISO 900:2016 lead Auditor and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

I am a flexible, all rounded professional evidenced by my multi-faceted experience placing me at an advantage of adopting to new roles and rearing to experience new and bigger challenges. I have demonstrated experience in Finance at various levels.
