Jan Michael Villanueva

I would describe myself as highly curious and eager to learn, both in my personal and professional lives. In my professional life, I always try to learn something new that will help me in my career. For instance, before I started, I didn't even know what macro is in Excel, but after doing some research and knowing it would help me in my current role to be more efficient, I tried to learn it by myself using the internet. In my personal life, I always love watching DIY videos and lifehacks or discovering clever tricks. I thrive on expanding my practical knowledge. There’s something immensely satisfying about making life a little smoother and more efficient. Other than this, if I'm not at home, I love doing sports like cycling and basketball.

In my previous job, I worked as a supervisor in the Tax and Internal Audit Department, but since it’s a small-to-midsize firm, my responsibility is to lead the department with the guidance of the partner. Prior to this, I worked as a financial controller at Decathlon Philippines for almost 3 years. In total of 6 years of experience in different fields of accounting, I have an excellent grasp of IFRS and the full accounting process, from journalizing to reporting with data visualization, and I have proven leadership skills, am a team player, and can work independently with minimal supervision. I have a strong passion for accounting and learning, which motivates me to continuously develop and improve my skill set.

I hold a bachelor's degree in accounting and also have a CPA license in the Philippines, but I'm working towards getting my CPA here in Ontario, Canada.
