Katie Robart

Part of an interdisciplinary team for nearly ten years gave me a broad understanding of the system we work within, including its limitations, which continuously re-ignites my passion for this field. Working across Canada within Hull Services (Calgary, AB), School District #6 (East Kootenay, BC) and Woodstreet Centre (Truro, NS) offered me intensive training in difficult situations, which prepared me to work with some of the most challenging youth/circumstances in the country. 

In addition, I volunteer with an animal rescue organization, own a business as an eyelash technician, collect books and travel in my off time. 

II have worn many hats in this field, however my niche is 7-14 year olds struggling with ODD, FASD, ADHD Attachment and Trauma. In the past I was elected a board member for a youth centre, shift-leader/acting supervisor/team lead in secure and long term treatment facilities, creating and running treatment group/programs at numerous schools and centres, working 1:1 with clients offering DBT and clinical decision making. Risk screening for suicide, self-harm, substance use, violence to others and general offending using ASIST, NMT, and program specific rating scales. 

A considerable amount of my experience comes from practicing non-violent crisis interventions including life-space interview, 10-step teaching interaction, running treatment groups and peer/ family mediations largely with clients in crisis. This on the job experience is supplemented with my formal education including extensive knowledge of policies and protocols in working with clients and their families.
