About Katie Howse:

I am a Vancouver-based artist from Newfoundland, Canada. My art is a blend of traditional and modern styles, which incorporates my love for my homeland and all things joyful to create unique pieces. My passion for art started at a young age, and I have since honed my skills through various projects and years of practice. At present I am a production coordinator in the animation industry looking to broaden my horizons beyond commissions and side projects. I am seeking new illustration and design opportunities to expand my experiences and pick up new skills.

Experience

Production Coordinator 2022 - Present: in charge of tracking, managing and scheduling the production of design and assets on Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever.  As these departments wrapped up, I moved onto animation and eventually helped with lighting, rendering and comp. My tasks also included weekly/daily reports, taking notes, running dailies sessions, client deliveries and helping with artist questions. I have recently moved over to help out on Sausage Party: Foodtopia's lighting team.

 I handled scanning tasks, design concepts, 3D modeling, rigging and texturing  of shoes, characters, and other everyday objects. I kept track of all  projects as well as supervising one of our junior artists.

In this job I started off with photogrammetry/scanning tasks and some small modeling projects which grew into bigger projects once I gained more confidence in my skill set.

I graduated from this Digital Animation program in 2018 with honors.

It was a two year program focused on production, design, problem solving and visual storytelling methods. I worked on individual and collaborative projects both in 2D and 3D.
