About Kevin Miller:
After more than 10 years’ experience leading progressively more senior teams within major Financial Institutions, I find a great deal of satisfaction in applying my broad knowledge of:

Experience
Program Manager, Borden Ladner Gervais 2019 – 2022
Executing a major business transformation project which at completion will radically change how Canada’s largest law firm operates on a daily basis – transforming the organization to a paperless office structure.
- Implemented a cloud-based document management system (iManage Work® 10) and migrated all current records to that system
- Migrated specialist document management records (Health Law, Records Management) to the new system
- Integrated Accellion Kiteworks® secure file transfer SaaS into the iManage Work 10 application
- Executed organizational change management in detail across five branch offices from Vancouver to Montréal in English and French. This deliverable was by far the most critical part of the program
- Currently implementing a comprehensive revision of the Firm’s Financial Management application requiring a major software upgrade, revised business flows, and change management for Finance and the law practices
- Direct management of vendors: iManage, Accellion, Aderant, Phoenix Business Solutions and Oyster IMS
Senior Project Manager, Wealth Management, Bank of Montreal 2018 – 2019
Delivering the technology solution for IFRS 17 Financial Reporting for Insurance. This multi-year $20MM program requires major updates to insurance product platforms including implementation of cloud computing, $2MM to populate the Hadoop data warehouse and user process impacts:
- Implementing a cloud-based Moody’s Risk Integrity rules engine requiring information security approvals and vendor master services agreement renegotiation.
- Solution will integrate with BMO Financial Group’s evolving General Ledger consolidation program.
- In parallel, implementing a cloud-based solution supporting underwriting decisions, as the first step in a multi-year upgrade to BMO’s Insurance business.
Program Manager, Counterparty Credit Risk, Royal Bank of Canada 2016 - 2018
Managing a portfolio of projects aimed at meeting compliance objectives for business entities subject to Federal USA, EU/EMIR, Canadian/OSFI and Asia Pacific regulators’ requirements:
- Directly managing a 5.4 MM agile project to achieve regulatory compliance for key Bank entities (RBC Capital Markets, RBC Investor and Treasury Services) operating in Canada, Hong Kong and Europe compliant with respective regulators requirements for foreign exchange and money markets trading, with one senior PM
- Detailed planning for a suite of 4 projects focused on software functional development, enhancement and maintenance, and data storage in an enterprise data lake leveraging Hadoop® technology
- Direct management of Lombard Risk Services, for their proprietary “Colline®” collateral management application
Program Manager, Enterprise Application Systems, Scotiabank 2014 – 2016
Leading the team to achieve a business process and technology solution that meets OSFI’s Regulatory Compliance Guideline E-13:
- Leading a Global Compliance team comprised of the four business lines and Executive Office, defining a business solution for regulatory compliance management across all jurisdictions internationally
- Overall project financial management (61.5MM)
- Lead on contract negotiation with Ernst Young (CDN 9MM) and Thomson Reuters (USD 13MM)
- Adopted an agile delivery approach to deliver benefits to the business sponsor as early as possible, with further features delivered in successive waves
- In parallel, delivery of a system upgrade to the Scotiabank Anti Money Laundering (AML) office, incorporating Fiserv Inc.’s Financial Crime Risk Management application – on time and 15% under budget
Program Manager, Risk Management Systems, Scotiabank 2011 – 2014
Leadership of Finances and Schedule for the Liquidity Risk Data Integration project to meet OSFI requirements for Liquidity Risk reporting. Responsible for:
- Overall project financial management ($34MM) and Executive reporting,
- Managing cross-business line execution of the project plan
- Delivery of data from Scotiabank’s Canadian Banking businesses into the Liquidity Risk reporting engine using enterprise data transformation technology (EDW/ETL)
Program Manager, Core Banking Technology, Scotiabank 2009 - 2011
Leadership of two portfolios of projects to upgrade IT&S infrastructure:
- Core Domestic Banking Program – reduce overall risk to Scotiabank arising from legacy mainframe applications which support our core banking products
- Branch Network Stabilization Program – upgrading and rationalizing the Branch Network server farm to increase capacity, provide stability and reduce cost
Senior Project Manager, IT&S Project Management Office, Scotiabank 2007-2009
Managed a portfolio of five projects within a Retail Banking context, leading matrix project teams made up of business, IT&S and infrastructure team members. Projects included debit product launches, software upgrades, mortgage insurance and IT&S infrastructure upgrades.
Projects delivered:
- Mortgage Disability Insurance – adding this insurance product to our existing mortgage offerings
- Bank the Rest – a Debit Card savings product launched with a national mass-media campaign in April 2008, representing the first new debit card product implemented by a major Canadian Chartered Bank in many years
- Fixed Income Trading Platform Upgrade – upgraded the hardware and software stack for Wealth Management’s bond trading platform, and with our partner Sapient delivered business requirements for Phase 2: system replacement.
