Led significant development teams at Crystal/Business Objects as Chief Architect/Software Development Manager.
Created Business Objects' Academic Research Center (ARC) and led applied research, patent programs and industry-academia collaboration. Several successful innovations/products delivered to market.
Co-founded an enterprise cloud business intelligence product in 2009, which sold to Dun and Bradstreet.
Ran continuous development and maintenance of AWS-hosted cloud Business Intelligence product for 15 years. Continuous improvement leveraging emerging AWS technologies over this time.
Experience
Joined Holistic Systems, a startup innovating in what became known as OLAP in 1990. Developer #4. This was sold to Seagate Technology who had acquired Crystal (Reports).
Moved to Vancouver in 1996 to run the Crystal Reports Engine team and integrate scalable enterprise OLAP features as well as ongoing development of Crystal Reports product in general.
Led significant critical development efforts at Crystal and then Business Objects when the latter acquired Crystal for its enterprise platform and superior reporting capabilities.
Took on the role of Chief Scientist (at Crystal and then Business Objects), with responsibilities for ongoing innovation and academic liaison.
Left at SAP acquisition of Business Objects. Worked on new startup in the automated contracts space, but was eventually solicited by brother of Crystal founder to do a Business Intelligence startup leveraging the cloud. Developed software architecture/design, worked with investors, built team. Built and launched product. Enhanced and scaled product as customer base grew. Worked up partnership with Salesforce around social media analytics. Company eventually sold to Dun and Bradstreet for both BI capabilities, but also to bring our cloud expertise in-house to help with modernizing their other software stacks.
Software assets sold to Calabrio Inc to power their contact centre analytics with both out-of-the-box reporting and fully customer-customizable informatics and proprietary data federation. Ran Calabrio's Vancouver-based development organization (centre of excellence for analytics).
