Marcus Wild

Originally from Wakefield, in the Northern English county of West Yorkshire I have lived in Vancouver Canada since 1998. Up until then I studied and gained a degree in design & illustration from the University of Wolverhampton before heading to the 'Big Smoke' (London) to spread my artistic wings. There I worked in the field of advertising as a storyboard artist, branching off on occasion as a comic book illustrator and album cover/poster artist for bands such as Marilyn Manson, Soundgarden, Courtney Love and Sting.

When an opportunity to live in Canada came along I jumped at the chance. Promptly securing a job at video game giant EA Sports as a concept artist on the Need For Speed franchise. While still keeping close ties with the video game world I have concentrated mainly on small and large scale acrylic paintings. Popular subjects that flash beneath his brush are the many impressive vistas of beautiful Vancouver. Portraiture is also key to my work, utilizing my keen eye for detail and love of capturing the sparkle in a person's eyes. Eyes that for the most part look directly at the viewer, following them around the room like the propaganda posters of old!

I am a passionate artist who believes that my constant practice of basic drawing and painting skills has honed an ability to translate the world into colorful artworks that hopefully captivate those that see them.

I have worked for various London (UK) based advertising agencies as an inhouse storyboard artist as well in studios full of freelance artists. I have been a concept artist and art director for a few top of the range video game developers (EA Sports, Next Level Games, United Front, Jetpack Interactive) among them. Spending many years as a freelance artist has given me the opportunity to 'dive' in to many different projects for short periods of time, which I feel helps me to give my all every time rather than becoming complacent. You are only as good as your last design, concept, storyboard, illustration etc!) 

Life and working in the art field on various different projects is the best form of education I could ever wish for!
