Mia Lauren Gravel

Hi, I am Mia, a student in Carleton University's Bachelor of Global and International Studies program. As a third-year student, I specialize in Global Law and Social Justice. My undergraduate degree is multidisciplinary, providing students like myself with a strong foundation in economics, environmental change, legal policy, global politics, and human rights. As a whole, my degree studies these phenomena and how they shape our current sphere. I want to secure public policy, legal, or environmental employment to expand my professional experience. Next year, I plan to complete a placement through Carleton University with an International Organization of my choice in Ottawa. When not completing coursework, I enjoy spending time in Ontario's effervescent Bruce Peninsula, engaging in Horseback Riding (an activity I have enjoyed for a decade), practising wildlife photography, and uncovering Lake Superior's Eastern Shores. A moment that has stood out to me in my career as a university student has been enrolling in LAWS3800, an environmental law class at Carleton University. In this course, I learned about legislative tools Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations use to demand legal action from various Environmental Ministers across Canada. Thus, my interest in the environment has been heightened. After I have completed my undergraduate degree, I plan to obtain my Bachelor of Education or study Environmental Law. 

Legal Assistant and Runner at Ellery, Ellery, Guillemette and Prabucki (2019)

I worked for this law firm by providing administrative support to clients, and relaying information between local law firms in Timmins. Further, I was responsible for relaying relevant legal documents to the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice

Administrative Assistant at Timmins Nissan (2018-2023)

I conducted clerical duties at this automotive dealership, to assist clients in booking appointments. I also fulfilled duties relating to file revision for auditing, computer work, and data entry. 

Special Service Associate at Home Depot (2022)

In this position I assisted customers with inquiries regarding their online store orders, was responsible for maintainng inventory, and spent various instances speaking wit Home Depot Canada regarding customer issues. 

In June of 2020 I received my Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and I am currently a student at Carleton University in the Bachelor of Global and International Studies program (Specializing in Global Law and Social Justice.)
