About Mohammed Nasar Ibrahim:
I am a postdoctoral associate working with the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. My area of interest is medical image analysis, processing, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
Experience
My current research is focused on developing AI-based image analytics for the early detection of vision-threatening retinal disorders. In particular, we segmented the choroid layer, vasculature and quantified the vessel-level biomarkers inter-related with the underlying retinal diseases.
We developed a multi-modal structured and unstructured database from decades of patient data for automated diagnosis and prognosis of ophthalmological conditions based on image processing and AI-based tools.
We also developed GUI-based tools incorporating modeling and quantification of choroidal biomarkers to facilitate clinical study.
Education
I obtained my PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad India. My thesis is “Modeling and Quantification of Biomarkers of choroidal vessels.”
Proposed and developed an end-to-end image processing framework including segmenting, labeling, and estimating the cross-section diameter of choroidal vasculature to enable the early detection of retinal diseases based on optical coherence tomography (OCT) images.
