About Navodi Silva:

I’ve always been passionate about business management and accounting. I'm having over 8 years of experience working in accounting and finance. Currently, working as the senior accountant-consultant at Sysco technologies- a subsidiary of Sysco Corporation, USA. I have a practical approach to problem-solving and a drive to see things through to completion.

I enjoy overcoming challenges and have a genuine interest in business management and accounting. my previous workplaces were  John Keels Holdings PLC and Expolanka Holdings PLC.

Experience

  • Maintaining the balance sheet and, budgets, preparation of monthly financial statements, maintaining financial records, and establishing, maintaining, and balancing various accounts using accounting software. (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle)
  • Administering quarterly and monthly tax returns for payroll taxes, operational taxes, and corporate taxes, and liaising with the Inland Revenue Department in Sri Lanka for respective tax clearances. Initiated the TAX refund process by completing all the statutory requirements by which the company could get the necessary VAT refunds.
  • Engaging in cost reduction analyses in all areas of the organization including benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement.
  • Preparing monthly invoices for specific departments’ performance and analyzing the relevant budgets in comparison of actuals vs. budgeted figures with respective leads/ directors. Streamlined the invoicing process from 2019 and made it more effective by adhering to deadlines with the US Finance teams.
  • Facilitating all payroll and, employment confirmation requirements: payroll processing (local and overseas), salary slips and, salary confirmations including visa-related documentation for corporate travels.
  • Liaising with service providers on corporate affairs: banking – including bank statements and foreign exchange-related matters, insurance – including health, life, fire, and motor vehicle insurance and, other corporate affairs – secretarial affairs, the Registrar of Companies and, the Board of Investment (BOI) in Sri Lanka.
  • Managing and maintaining the corporate petty cash float and the corporate credit card along with respective reporting requirements
  • Facilitating third-party vendor payments, customer invoicing (local and overseas), and staff reimbursements, and adhering to other financial reporting requirements (e.g., annual statutory audit, and accounts reconciliations.

Master of Business Administration- Majoring in Corporate Finance with a first class.
