• Played a key role in developing the best regionally adapted canola hybrids by participating as part of a team in breeding, sampling, and data analysis.
• Collected leaf samples for molecular analysis using DNA extraction protocols.
• Gathered and computerized phenotypic and seed quality data and records into the database to help identify trends across years, programs, locations, species, or families; these broad-scale analyses can facilitate the discovery of trends that could be cost-prohibitive if performed as independent experiments.
• Analyzed data using Excel and R software for statistical computing.
• Detected allelic diversity and its implications for rate of adoption within the plant population using simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers, Applied Biosystems Genetic Analysis Systems (ABI) and GeneMaker software.
