Hi there. In the early part of my career I worked in corporate communications using my journalism and photography training. Then I took 11 years off to be a stay-at-home mom with my five kids. When my youngest started school, I went back to work in the sales department of a truck and trailer dealership in Edmonton, Alberta preparing graphics for their advertising using a graphic design course I had taken to brush up on my skills after my stay-at-home stint. As I watched the salesmen, I realized I would probably be good at that because I noticed that pretty much all they did was talk to people. I thought to myself: I can do that, I can talk to people. So I left that business and started working in outside sales (door knocking) for the Yellow Pages competitor at the time (Canpages). I did very well there quickly becoming a top performer. Yellow Pages bought Canpages and we were all let go so after a few brief sales jobs, I landed a District Manager role for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). I worked there for 11 years also achieving top honours for sales volume. My final three years there were in inside sales and customer service; making sure its members were making the most of their membership. CFIB underwent some restructuring and my position was eliminated a year ago. Now, at my age, I'm no longer interested in the pressure that goes with sales but I realized that at the core of a good salesperson is excellent customer service – and this is what was revealed via testing I did as part of my severance package. So now what I'm looking for is a remote customer service role. It needs to be remote because I have mobility issues due to multiple schlerosis (that's the reason I left outside sales at CFIB otherwise I might still be doing it!).  Making customers and stakeholders happy makes my day :-)
