About Sasha Yole-Merasty:

My name is Sasha Yole-Merasty. I have just moved to the Comox Valley and although I have no experience as a foot care nurse I am eager and willing to learn. I have 13 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in many different areas such as the Renal Unit, ICU and orthopedics. After working many years in health care I do understand the importance of good feet hygiene.

Experience

Over the last 6 years, I worked in the Renal Unit at the Regina General Hospital with hemodialysis patients. Working in the Renal Unit has allowed me to  work in a variety of settings within the hospital (ie: ICU, CCU, and SICU to name a few) to administer hemodialysis. A recent highlight for me is having been trained to perform Therapeutic Plasma Exchanges and more recently Red Blood Cell Exchanges.

Prior to the Renal Unit, I worked in a small facility called St. Joseph's Health Center in the Emergency Room, Acute Care Unit, and a Long Term Care facility. This hospital is the core for many surrounding communities. During this time of my career, I learned that the responsibility of the RN has many dimensions and facets.

Prior to moving to small town Saskatchewan, I was working in the ICU at the Royal University Hospital. Along with the ICU team we managed acutely ill patients that were intubated. I gained a world of experience during my short time on this unit which encompassed everything from maintaining the airway, administering and titrating drugs, including anaesthetic medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting with procedures, and caring and responding to patients who were critically ill.

My career started in the Orthopedic Unit at Saskatoon City Hospital. I have always thought this was the perfect place to start my profession as it helped to build my confidence in the hospital setting. The work is hard but relatively predictable and routine. During my time on the Ortho Unit we cared for post operative patients, the majority of those recovering from total hip and knee replacements. We performed simple dressing changes, administered routine medications and help to rehabilitate patients.

After having worked for 13 years in many different settings as a RN, I feel I would be an asset to your team. I am a hard worker, who is flexible, and prides themselves in doing a good job.

Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. I look forward to it.

Education

I graduated from the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan in 2009.
