About Shade Komolafe:

I am a member of the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), and the Association of Certified Examiner (ACFE); with Certified Anti Money laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification in view. A graduate of a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ogun State University and a Master in Business Administration (MBA), from Imo State University, Owerri, Imo State respectively. I’m also an ISO Quality Management Auditor.

 

I have good experience in Transaction monitoring and analysis, reporting, /control/compliance, and financial crime investigation. I have  5+ years’ of experience across government administration, Non- governmental Organizations, and Financial Institutions. I participated in routine and investigative KYC/CDD/EDD, Online transaction/payment monitoring, verification of client transactions and compliance with regulatory standards, sanction screening and unusual transaction reports. I just completed a six-month contract remote employment with C&G Professional Services, Toronto Ontario as a KYC /Monitoring Analyst. I had an opportunity to work on different projects for world-class companies like World Remit, Remit B, and Afric Change which are all into online money remittance across the globe. Thereby looking for another similar opportunity that would enable me to learn, and develop more interest in Money Services Businesses (MSBs).

 

Through this experience, I have developed a strong professional work ethic with good leadership and communication skills for sharing information in a clear, logical and accurate fashion as my responsibilities include preparation of reports for Management’s use and decision-making, Protecting the interest of clients, self-motivated while working with minimal supervision,   a  sound and strong interpersonal skills as I work with other team members.   • Ongoing reviews and remediation of KYC/ Customer Data of clientele files. This program is covering Data Entry, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence Procedures, Name Screening, PEP Screening, Risk Rating, and schedule review, remediating deficiencies from low to High-Risk Customers, and developing a Centre of Excellence (COE), Money Service Business MSBs Transactions.
  • Conduct research via multiple media and evidencing of customer information and documentation of such information in accordance with the bank’s documented processes and procedures.
  • Validate all aspects of Client Identification Program (CIP) and necessary account opening documents in accordance with Know Your Customer (KYC) Canadian regulatory requirement 
  • Perform risk rating for individual/non-individual accounts to highlight high risk jurisdictions, cash intensive businesses and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) or Relatives or Close Associates (RCAs)
  • Complete extensive due diligence investigation using public and private databases in accordance with Anti-money laundering (AML) and other regulatory standards to assist business units operational and reputational risks 
  • Conduct KYC due diligence checks on consultants, vendors, contractors and identifying Standard/High/Medium risk Customers
  • Perform Enhanced Due Diligence research in attempts to find derogatory backgrounds information used to aid clients’ advisors’ decisions in initiating maintaining or closing business relationships

Sterling Bank Plc, Lagos Nigeria

  • Reviewed and remediation of KYC/ Customer Data of clientele of Sterling Bank Plc, involving over 5,000 customer’s files. This program covered enhanced Customer Due Diligence Procedures, remediating deficiencies from low to High-Risk Customers, Participated in several initiatives around policies and processes development, transaction monitoring, investigations, and suspicious activities/transactions referrals.
  • Performed AML/KYC documentations as well as performing KYC remediation according to regulatory and Financial Institution’s requirement
  • Performed assessment of customer’s risk level by investigating standard, medium and high-Risk KYC files using bank CDD and/ EDD enterprise guidelines
  • Partnered with relevant teams to ensure that (high- risk clients) assessments are appropriately coordinated, routed, and escalated where relevant, using a risk-based approach
  • Responsible for the oversight of timely, accurate, and complete files across the Team, including the consistent and standard use of the case management tool (Actimize)
