Vu Tu

My name is Vu and I am currently working full time as a Senior Medical Lab Scientist- MLS (ASCP) cm for almost 12 years at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Doing Lab works is one of my passions and I am so fortunate to pursue my dream job. Also, I used to serve in the United States Coast Guard Reserves for 8 years prior getting myself in the Medical Lab Science career. I‘ve always loved Canada and I am currently looking for an opportunity to work and live in Canada. 

• Dec 2003 - June 2005: Did Blood Banking at Tu Du Gunecoligy and Obstetric Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
• July 2005 - Dec 2006: Worked for the Polio Myelitis Eradication Program of the WHO, contributing to Hand, Foot, and Mouth research study, which was perform in Vietnam over the course of 2 years. Processed specimens, performed cell cultures, and isolated viruses.
• Sep, 2010 - Sep 2018: Served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Yeoman.
• Jan 2012 - now: Currently working as a Senior Medical Lab Scientist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. My duties are involved in processing samples, analyze hematology, clinical chemistry, molecular diagnosis, urinalysis, and body fluid samples. Besides, I monitor  quality control, perform weekly, monthly maintenance for all our instruments at the Core Lab. Also, I train University of Washington MLS students and new employees.

• Sep 1999 - July 2003: Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
• Sep 2007 - Nov 2008: Clinical Lab assistant Certificate from Edmonds Community College.
• Jan 2010 - Sep 2011: Audited the Medical Lab Science program at Shoreline College, Seattle WA.  Licensed International Medical Lab Scientist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
