Sumo Robot

Sumo Robot - Systems Interfacing

hcJW2.png

  • Given the parts and told to design and create a robot that meets the required specifications.
  • Designed robot shape and measurements  and created a mock shape using construction paper.
  • Worked with power tools such as a band saw, drill press, and a dremel to cut the metal into the correct shapes and sizes.
  • Using C code and embedded systems programmed everything individually and then put everything together.
  • Sent PWM signal to motors and altered frequency to change speed.
  • Programmed an infrared sensor to act as the robot’s “eyes”.
  • GPIO inputs for reflectivity sensors used to keep robots in bounds
  • Won 2 of 3 matches

Automatic Guitar Tuner

Senior Design Project

Automatic Guitar Tuner (Intunegrated)

DJHB4.png

  • Collaborated within a group of 4 for the entire senior year.
  • Presented during weekly meetings and progress reports.
  • Researched how guitars worked and how different existing tuners worked.
  • Tasked with designing the entirety of the project within the first semester.  Then creating a prototype in the second semester.
  • Designed electrical schematic of the overall system using NI multisim.
  • Found parts and kept track of pricing of all components.
  • Set schedule and deadlines for different project milestones.
  • Utilized a fast fourier transform to find the recorded frequency
  • Tested different DSP algorithms using MatLab to find the most accurate.
  • Designed gear mechanism to hold string similar to a tuning peg.
  • Communicated with motors via I2C communication.
  • Created I2C driver specifically for our project and micro controller.
  • Programmed real time code in C using embedded systems.
  • Designed a control system to spin a DC motor for a specific amount of time.
  • Successfully tuned a guitar mockup to multiple different notes.
  • Presented design at the end of the year to faculty, investors and anybody that was curious.
