Since 1985, Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency, URSA, has been a Calgary based non-profit agency that works to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in community settings.

We continue to break down a multitude of barriers for these individuals and help them thrive in the community. Given its continued growth, URSA is looking for Assistant Coordinators to help support our residential programs.


The role of the Assistant Coordinator reports directly to the Program Coordinator and supports the operations of a 24/7 wholistic model.

The Assistant Coordinator is responsible in supporting the Program Coordinator in leading, training and coaching for the team. The Assistant Coordinator also provides direct care and programming supports to the individuals in care.


Your responsibilities
will include:


  • Administration and daytoday operation of an URSA site
  • All aspects of the supervision/direction of the rehabilitation team
  • Ensuring compliance with Agency standards
  • Facilitating the development of clients within a 24hour Wholistic Model.
  • Maintaining and accounting for all programmatic budgets
  • Caring for individuals who have medical needs
  • Reviewing and critiquing all ongoing paperwork prior to it being submitted to their direct supervisor
  • Coordinating/completing orientation with new staff members and acting as a mentor for new employees
  • Ensuring staff maintain current status in all required certifications/inservices
  • Supervising practicum students and volunteers
  • Completing and submitting monthend paperwork to their direct supervisor within set timelines
  • Reviewing, completing and submitting timesheets to their direct supervisor
  • Monitoring and upholding staff schedules based on allotted hours and present any required changes
  • Attending regularly scheduled meetings
  • Participating in oncall rotation with Manager's team members
  • Documenting performance concerns of team members and presenting them
  • Participating in first and second interview process
  • Monitoring and reporting all maintenance needs
  • Participating in activities to support employee appreciation in order to maintain a low turnover rate
  • Coordinating, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating all programs
  • Participating in initial client intake process as appropriate
  • Planning, scheduling, and attending annual client conferences
  • Meeting regularly to ensure client's goals are being met/worked toward
  • Is aware of client support plans and is able to safely implement and train the outlined procedures
  • Communicating and consulting with families and guardians
  • Stays updated on all client health concerns, ensuring proper procedures are followed by team members and report any serious issues to the assigned supervisor
  • Administering minor health care to clients according to established Agency procedure
  • Ensuring an acceptable level of health care is maintained for each client through consultation with nurses, doctors, labs or other health care professionals
  • Supervising a dynamic team of Community Rehabilitation Workers
  • Other duties as assigned

General Requirements:


  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years' study in Rehabilitation Studies or a Diploma/Degree in a related discipline
  • 35 years experience working with persons with disabilities
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in administration and supervision of a 710 member team.
  • Maintain a Class 5 Drivers License and $1,000,000 liability insurance.
  • Provide and maintain a clear Child Intervention Check and clear Criminal Record Check

$52,000.00 per year
