Description

We are recruiting for 2 (two) full-time (37.5 hours per week), temporary Group Assistants in Autism & Behavioural Services. The designated office for these positions is London. The catchment area for London includes Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties. These positions are expected to begin in July 2023 and end September 1, 2023.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Autism & Behavioural Services Group Assistants will provide the following support to the Behaviour Clinician and Instructor Therapist prior to, during and after Education Workshops, Treatment Groups, and Classroom sessions:

Prepare materials for the activities; including photocopying, laminating, collecting and arranging materials, setting up the room including equipment and technology supports
Interact with families and children/youth during the activities by

- giving direction and prompting as required,
- providing reinforcement as needed,
- recording data as instructed,
- assisting parents with instructions, and
- other assigned tasks as they arise

Direct families to appropriate staff or resources after the activities have ended, share observations of client progress with the Behaviour Clinician or Instructor Therapist
Follow through on assigned tasks prior to the next group/workshop; return the classroom to a neat and orderly state, assist with the distribution and collection of evaluation tools, clean and disinfect all toys, materials and equipment as required.

Qualifications:

Working toward Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field (e.g. ABSC, CYW, ECE, DSW)
Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders is preferred
Experience working with children and youth with Autism is an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
