Quinte Health Care (QHC) is a progressive and integrated system of four hospitals working with partners to provide exceptional care to their local communities.

Care is provided through four hospitals - Belleville General Hospital, North Hastings Hospital, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, and Trenton Memorial Hospital - and includes four emergency departments, operating rooms at three hospitals, a rehabilitation day hospital, children's treatment centre, ambulatory care clinics, community mental health programs, and a range of diagnostic services.

There are inpatient beds for acute medical patients, intensive care, obstetrics, paediatrics, mental health, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, and surgery.

Position Summary
Although there is no guarantee, the anticipated end date of this temporary position is May 2024.
Required

  • Current Certificate of Registration from College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Current knowledge and skills in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
  • Recent and related experience in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in psychosocial rehabilitation with seriously mentally ill clients.
  • Knowledge and experience with vocational approaches, mental health act and other relevant legislation.
  • Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
  • Must be available for all shifts and call on short notice.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing and Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Duties

  • Participates in the Nursing Process by assisting with assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care,
  • Provide client centred treatment, rehabilitation and support to referred clients, accountable to the primary client's assignment,
  • Participate in case finding activities, conduct comprehensive client assessments, develop individualized client treatment/rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients, including assertively reaching out to them in their natural environment,
  • Provide communication, liaison and coordination by establishing effective working relationships with families, service providers, stakeholders and local employers,
  • Participate on community boards and committees as necessary,
  • Ensure service provision is consistent with local/regional mental health system planning.
  • Administers total patient care including group modality for a group of patients under the supervision of Registered Nursing staff,
  • Reports pertinent information to other members of the health care team, and participates in daily and weekly team meetings,
  • Manages key components of the clinical record, in a manner that is clear, concise and comprehensive and consistent with Hospital Policy and the College of Nurses Standards,
  • Engages in critical inquiry to inform decision making and establishes therapeutic, caring and culturally safe relationships with patient and the interprofessional care team,
  • Provides leadership in the practice setting by acting as a role model and preceptor for students and new staff,
  • Demonstrates leadership by providing, facilitating, and promoting the best possible care/service to patients, their families and significant others while role modeling professional values, beliefs and attributes,
  • Adheres to worker responsibilities as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hospital policies,
  • Works together with members of the Health Care Team to create quality practice settings that promotes continuing competence and a healthy workplace,
  • Other duties as assigned.
