The Role:


The role of the Key Account Manager, BC Strategic Key Account Manager is responsible for managing, planning and selling to a group of assigned key Retail Chain account banners.

This role is expected to work with specific internal and external customers to drive sales with these targeted partners through strategic and focused portfolio management and tactical activations.


This position's objective is to manage strategy, product assortment, distribution, programming and flyer optimization by banner, driving sales of Arterra Wines wine portfolio in both volume and dollar share while positioning Arterra Wines Canada as the core supplier and preferred partner in this high profile position.


What you will be doing:

  • The KAM (Key Account Manager) will have direct responsibility for achieving a defined annual profit and sales plan.
  • This KAM will utilize the Arterra Wines Canada selling methodology to grow volume, sales revenue, and marketshare while generating strong EBIT and ROI
  • The KAM is responsible for managing budgets for all assigned partners
  • The KAM will develop and build annual Strategic Account Plans, identifying opportunities and risks and developing strategies to deliver sales to outperform Arterra Wines competitors.
  • The KAM will secure and cultivate strong relationships with all key buyers as a preferred supplier and trusted resource.
  • The KAM will take a proactive and collaborative approach with internal departments such as Customer Marketing, Business Insights, Field Sales Execution, and Inside Sales to drive results and maximize on opportunities
  • As KAM, this role will be responsible for all aspects of building and sharing timely communication with the required teams to ensure flawless execution in the assigned retail banners.
  • The KAM will prepare and conduct detailed annual Business Reviews of each assigned retail banner.
  • The KAM will participate and contribute to the annual planning processes for our focus brands and categories as it relates to the assigned channels/partners
  • The KAM is responsible for overseeing inventory for respective channel/banner initiatives and managing communications and buying requirements as well as forecasting internally.
  • The KAM will ensure each retail banner has the necessary product distribution, shelving, facings, inventory, displays and promotions to deliver sales targets.
  • The KAM will do regular analysis of promotional spends.

What you will bring:

  • A University Degree or Comparable (Primary Focus on Business, Sales and/or Marketing)
  • A track record of success in a similar role with a minimum of 35 years of experience
  • Must have 2+ years' experience in the beverage alcohol industry
  • WSET or ISG Certification an asset
  • Strong wine product knowledge and understanding of BC beverage alcohol industry
  • Key Account Management experience at a Head Office Level
  • Proven Experience or Certification in Sales and Negotiation
  • Strong analytical skills, and polished presentation abilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with customers and peers
  • Results oriented, selfmotivated, driven and disciplined
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to create and modify PowerPoint presentations, Word and Excel documents as well as effectively utilize webbased tools and resources
  • Proof of valid Driver's License will be required.
  • Genuine interest and passion for the beverage alcohol industry
  • Must be able to lift wine cases weighing up to 45 pounds
