Our Team


Our Human Resources Services & Analytics team provides support and guidance to Vale's locations within Canada and our broader Base Metals business regarding our Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Payroll functions.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking two (2)
HRSA Analysts to join our HR Services & Analytics Team. These permanent positions will work remotely and may require travel to Vale's Toronto or Mississauga offices.

This role provides guidance and support for HR processes and systems experise.

The HR Analyst is responsible for updating employee data within the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and for troubleshooting HRIS related issues in accordance with standard internal procedures.

The successful incumbent is required to analyze and evaluate processes, data, and reports and provide feedback to recommend improvements.


This hands-on administrative and support role requires someone who can deliver great internal customer service, has exceptional interpersonal skills, can independently solve problems, takes initiative and looks for continuous improvement in processes and demonstrates attention to detail, with the goal of timely and accurate data.

In this position, you will carry out the following duties:


  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage a high demand of systems of HR data maintenance, including organization data, personal data, benefits programs, leaves and vacation payout processes.
  • Ensure all time entry is accurately converted to payable time during weekly, biweekly and semimonthly payment payroll processing timelines.
  • Convert payable data to payroll through Time and Labor and Absence Management systems.
  • Troubleshoot enduser/employee time entry errors as well as document and correct system configuration issues to ensure the reduction and prevention of employee pay errors.
  • Ensure Demographic data, Time & Labour and Absence Management transactions are accurately transmitted to the vendors for processing.
  • Provide support on errors related to interface files transmissions to third parties and provide guidance on corrective action (i.e. Sun Life, Manulife, SBM, SAPGL, ADP, etc.).
  • Review registers ensuring data integrity and completeness of payrolls, utilizing preestablished audit reports and validation processes to identify and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
  • Maintain required payroll package for each payroll: prepare the checklist, validate the daily update report, download and save all postpayroll registers and reports for each pay period. Prepare the SP funding to be reviewed and signed off by the supervisor.
  • Be accountable for system processing of ad hoc HR projects (mass update, mass salary increases, mass retroactive payments, etc.) by creating requirements to feed project plans, identifying and documenting requirement risks, lessons learned and reporting on requirements progress.
  • Support all systems testing, ensuring that required testing is completed on time and that test results are appropriately documented and communicated (e.g. PeopleSoft Upgrades, System enhancements, policy changes, etc.).
  • Calculate and submit monthly financial vacation liability reports to finance, including calculation of liabilities for employees across Vale North American operations, adhering to multiple vacation policies.

About You

Education

  • Post-Secondary Degree.

Experience

  • 2 years of proven experience in a similar role is an asset.
