We are looking to enhance our team by welcoming a Production Manager - Afternoon Shift.


The Production Manager - Afternoon Shift is responsible for the manufacturing of finished goods in a safe, quality, productive and cost-effective manner by leveraging the strengths of his/her team and providing the leadership, guidance, development, and performance management to his/her team members.

This position requires strong managerial, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Job Duties:_

  • Ensure food products are made in the highest FSQA and GMP manner.
  • Ensure personnel follow all FSQA protocols and GMP's.
  • Maintain quality assurance by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Complete and manage production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries as required.
  • Prepare or oversee preparation of production and other reports; Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; managing personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Review manufacturing processes for efficiency, noting areas for improvement.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluate new equipment and techniques
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, recordkeeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Use established techniques to thoroughly investigate and document all adverse incident reports on the shift, including but not limited to QA, H&S and Production; Ensures indepth Root Cause analysis is completed on every incident.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, orientation, training and development of staff.
  • Train staff fundamentals of production, specific roles, FSQA, GMP and H&S; Cross train staff as appropriate
  • Manage hourly staff and temporary staff scheduling; Analyze staff hours to ensure labor optimization.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and probationary reviews with hourly staff.
  • Validate payroll using Ez labor hand punch system permanent staff and Homebase for temporary staff.
  • Manage vacation requests for shift/crew, permanent and temporary staff.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking stateoftheart practices; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications / Skills:_

  • College diploma in Operations Management; University Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience (Food industry strongly preferred) in a production management role


  • Computer skills

  • Microsoft office, ERP
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to multitask and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strategic planning and production planning
  • Knowledge in Health and Safety practices
  • GMP and HACCP training

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Manage 2 shift supervisors and a team of a ~100 hourly manufacturing employees by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Supervisory and Lead Hand staff, ensuring their success and development in the role.
