As we continue to prioritize workplace accommodations, accessibility, and equity, we are seeking a dedicated Workplace Accommodations and Equity Specialist to join our team.


As the Workplace Accommodations and Equity Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's commitment to accessibility and equity.

You will work closely with key stakeholders across the Senate to ensure we provide a supportive and inclusive environment. Your expertise will be critical in managing workplace accommodations, addressing barriers, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop, implement, and manage workplace accommodation programs and services
  • Provide strategic advisory services to employees and managers regarding accommodations
  • Identify and address workplace rules, policies, and practices impacting individuals protected under the Canadian Human Rights Act
  • Lead disability management processes and facilitate employee returntowork transitions
  • Deliver training sessions on workplace accommodation topics to enhance organizational understanding
  • Identify accessibility barriers and promote inclusivity and equitable practices across HR functions and activities
  • Consult with internal and external groups to gather input on employmentrelated barriers
  • Offer advice and guidance to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

Open to
The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate, full-time position in the Human Resources Directorate.

Please note that the classification for this position is under review.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of a postsecondary degree in a field related to the position or having an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Extensive experience implementing accommodations processes for persons covered under the prohibited grounds for discrimination (including, but not limited to, religion, age, gender identity, race, family status, etc.);
  • Experience developing programs, processes, and tools related to accessibility and/or accommodations management;
  • Experience providing advice and guidance across all levels of an organization;
  • Indepth understanding of the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Employment Equity Act, and the Accessible Canada Act;
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources program theories, principles, and best practices;
  • Excellent diplomacy, tact, and interpersonal skills complemented by superior oral and written communications skills in both official languages.
