GENERAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create monthly cafe schedules and approve any changes
  • Complete weekly sales reports and waste reports
  • Support, demonstrate and ensure proper cafe policies and procedures are followed by all staff, including attendance, health and safety policies, product standards and customer service
  • Maintain accurate records of product waste
  • Submit biweekly payroll reports and make any corrections necessary; calculate etips
  • Keep POS systems up to date
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding new staff, including bar training
  • Regular and ongoing training for supervisors and new staff including performance reviews
  • Offer strategic input or suggestions as to how to increase store profitability and efficiency
  • Assist with performance management and terminations of direct reports
  • Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product knowledge to staff and customers
  • Being oncall to staff and supervisors for any issues that may arise
  • Work with store JHSC representative to ensure monthly Health + Safety checks are conducted and completed on time
  • An understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Pilot Coffee Roasters
  • All other reasonable duties assigned by the company

PROFIT + LOSS

  • Reviewing and managing monthly profit and loss results
  • Overseeing the management of cafe's monthly COGS and targets
  • Control weekly and monthly labour targets
  • Work with monthly sales budgets to achieve desired monthly results
  • Ensure monthly stock takes are performed and reported to Supply Chain + Systems Analyst

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP + MANAGEMENT

  • Demonstrate PCR's core values of relationships, quality and innovation at all times

  • Supports the sharing of new ideas and is committed to lifelong learning
  • Inspires, delegates and communicates effectively
  • Ensure all staff members receive adequate and proper training, following Pilot's Learning + Development programs
  • Conduct full cycle recruitment when appropriate
  • Utilize Pilot's PoP program to recognize team members for their contributions and achievements
  • Conducting regular coaching conversations with team members to ensure performance is being managed, developed and celebrated
  • Oversee leadership team, conduct regular meetings and communications to ensure they are upholding PCR's standards and their responsibilities
  • Works with Retail Operations Manager to identify high performing individuals to build succession plans for the business
  • Manage the performance appraisal KPI process for all direct reports
  • Conduct and complete onboarding for all new employees
  • Conduct offboarding for departing team members
  • Committed to fostering an environment in which employee engagement is upheld and creates actions plans to further support those initiatives

Qualifications

  • Experience as a professional Barista is required, preferably in the specialty coffee industry
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience is preferred
  • Strong customer service experience is required
  • Experience with POS systems, printers, and other professional cafe equipment is required
  • Postsecondary education business degree, hospitality certificate, or equivalent is preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with iOS and Google Suite is required
  • Previous experience with employee hiring, on boarding and training is preferred
  • Possession of a Food Handler's Certificate is preferred
