How does the role impact the organization?


Reporting to the AVP Risk Management RJL & Chief Risk Officer Trust, the Manager Risk Management is responsible for the reporting and awareness promotion of Raymond James Enterprise Risk Framework as it translates in Canada, develop reports and act as the liaison to internal business units in the creation and administration of risk management practices.

This role is new to the firm and requires a proactive, client-focused approach, while simultaneously building and maintaining strong relationships with related partners.


What will your role be responsible for?

  • Significantly contribute to the monitoring and execution of the Enterprise Risk Management program as it applies to the Canadian business, this includes, Investment dealer, Wealth Management, Equity Capital Market, Insurance, Financial Planning and Trust.
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting templates using Microsoft office tools that is tailored to relevant audiences within short notice;
  • Lead analysis of the organizations risk profile, its severity and develop mitigants.
  • Manage the risk assessment process with business units in a collaborative approach, including development of controls;
  • Facilitate decisions on the level of risk the company is willing to incur by monitoring the risks against the established risk appetite statements / metrics;
  • Work closely with the business units, monitor and manage the establishment of risk appetite limits, tolerances and risk indicators;
  • Develop and deliver risk education and awareness programs to instill a risk culture;
  • Establish strong relationships throughout the firm and provide guidance on risk related issues and enterprise risk management;
  • Represent Risk in various interdepartmental meetings and provide Risk related guidance including identifying applicable risks;
  • Perform a risk evaluation of events and supporting program enhancement;
  • Work with business continuity, vendor risk, IT security, compliance functions to coordinate a comprehensive risk analysis and plan;
  • Support documentation of the firm wide risk management as applicable locally;
  • Support business unit risk management programs;
  • Draft succinct memo on risk management for various governance committee / meetings.

What do we expect from you?

_ To qualify for this opportunity you possess:_

  • A degree in business with a focus in risk management, economics or finance is required;
  • 5+ years of recent Risk Management and / or Internal Audit experience at a large CIRO, Security Commission or an OSFI regulated financial institution.
  • Experience in conducting Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Control reviews or audit.
  • Expert in data visualization and reporting using Microsoft office tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management program management.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills so as to identify and resolve diverse, complex and ambiguous issues in a timely and practical manner;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure;
  • Able to build relationships through respect and authenticity, and to collaborate with a diverse network of clients, prospects and business partners;
  • Established professional values including sound judgment, integrity, going the extra mile for clients, and being tenaciously driven to achieve results; and
  • Able to work with mínimal supervision.

Asset Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications and /or SQL is an asset.
  • Risk Management certification or working towards one.
