As a Geomatics Technologist, you will assist Allnorth's projects in a variety of industries such as civil construction, oil and gas, mining and municipal construction.

You will be responsible quality control checks on field returns, survey calculations, and project documentation for ongoing projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting UAV and 3D laser scan data processing. This role is critical in ensuring the highest quality of the survey plans


A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process and interpret survey data.
  • Review survey field returns for completeness and correct procedures.
  • Perform calculations including traverses and plan closures based on the legal survey plans.
  • Use standard survey practices and information gathered from the field and office to draft survey plans.
  • Perform network adjustment on survey data for higherorder control networks.
  • Generate topographic surfaces and perform volume calculations from processed data.
  • Survey calculation for engineering layout such as piles, anchor bolts, foundation, grading based on client supplied IFC drawings.
  • Support field crews performing engineering layout surveys.
  • Create alignments and corridors as per client supplied IFC drawings.
  • Prepare stakeout, prepour, and asbuilt reports per scope of work.
  • May include processing of remotely sensed data (3D laser scanning, photogrammetry, lidar data)
  • Ensure that you remain up to date on current and upcoming technologies.
  • Good Analytic skills and attention to detail
  • Work with team members to ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans meet standards before they are delivered for checking.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Postsecondary education in a Survey/Geomatics, Civil Engineering program, or related discipline; or certification in a related CAD/GIS course
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant construction survey experience

  • Proficient in survey processing software Trimble Business Centre (TBC
  • Proficient with Civil 3D and/or Autocad.
  • Proficient in 3D laser scanning processing software, modeling, and data viewing platforms, with an emphasis on Leica Cyclone
  • Proficient in processing UAV data.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying, survey plan requirements, and construction surveying deliverables
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
