The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure plans and improves transportation networks, builds new infrastructure, provides transportation services, and implements transportation policies, to allow for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.


Reporting to the Regional Manager, Business Management Services, the Business Management Administrator's role is to provide a high level of administrative and Human Resources support for the region, as required.

This position requires strong administrative and analytical skills and an ability to manage a high volume of work efficiently and accurately.

The Business Management Administrator offers a unique opportunity to support both our regional strategic HR program, liaise with business units and districts within the South Coast Region.


This position is responsible for providing supervisory support to the business unit, project managing a variety of annual events as well as ad hoc assignments that result from decisions made at the Executive and Regional Management Team levels.

These assignments include, but are not limited to, preparing information binders, business case studies, business continuity and recovery plans, and change management and work process improvement.

The position is responsible for coordinating advanced level and confidential administrative and secretarial support to the Executive Director and the Regional Management Team either by direct supervision or through liaison with managers and supervisors throughout the South Coast Region.

Responsible for forecasting and monitoring of a zero-based budget for the Executive Director's area.


Job Requirements:


  • Diploma or higher in business or public administration or program related field and *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Related experience must include a minimum of six (6) months in each of the following:
  • Experience in the preparation of practice guidelines and processes.
  • Experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders and partners.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Experience assisting with human resource administrative functions, payroll and leave management including consulting with the appropriate agency for guidance, submitting paperwork and verifying information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Reporting (CHIPS).
  • Experience working with Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Provisos:

  • Willing to travel periodically on business overnight and yearround throughout the region.
  • Willing to work overtime on weekends and weeknights in order to travel or complete work assignments within time frames.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC driver's licence.
