Summary


The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for ensuring that all products and materials are received and shipped accurately and properly, while keeping all systems and inventory updated and organized.

They will be required to work both at the manufacturing plant in Cambridge, and at the Guelph warehouse, driving our straight truck to and from these locations relocating materials and fulfilling orders.


Reporting Structure
Reports to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.


Duties include but are not exclusive to:

  • Shipping and Receiving inventory
  • Unload incoming shipments, verify and process receiving documentation
  • Ensure all parts received are in good order, properly labeled and distributed to the proper storage locations
  • Assess returned goods and process related paperwork
  • Accurate entry of receiving transactions in computer system.
  • Prepares product for shipment.
  • Pick and stage orders in accurate, thorough and efficient manner in accordance with established company standards and procedures.
  • Loads orders onto trucks with material handling equipment in a careful and safe manner. Ensure accuracy of shipment.
  • Inspection of trailers being loaded for damage and cleanliness
  • Prioritize workload to meet shipping deadlines
  • Safely operate the lift truck to fulfill duties ensuring lift truck is in good condition daily safety inspection required
  • Handles stock in a careful and safe manner, conscious of quality and eliminating damage.
  • Driving straight truck to and from the Guelph warehouse, occasionally working full days at the warehouse if needed.
  • Practices and adheres to established safety rules and policies as well as established housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts/cyclecounting
  • Use of warehouse management equipment.
  • Interact with coworkers, management, customers, and drivers.

Education, Skills and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of warehouse and/or shipping & receiving experience
  • 2+ years of Forklift experience required
  • Valid Ontario driver's license
  • Detail oriented and committed to accuracy and quality of work
  • Safetyoriented, observing proper lifting techniques and safe use of all equipment
  • High attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.

Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk, see or hear.

This job requires extended hours in front of a computer screen as well as time on your feet. Additional requirements would be typical of inspection activities such as bending and reaching, using a ladder, etc. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasional exposure to dust and fumes may occur. Non-temperature controlled building.
