The primary role of the Intermediate Tax Analyst is to liaise with financial staff in other areas regarding information needed to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting compliance.

The Analyst will work with the applicable Group Retirement Services (GRS) functional units to ensure our practices and procedures comply with current tax legislation requirements.

In addition, the Analyst will participate in accurate production of tax slips and tax returns based on government filing deadlines, and represent GRS Tax on internal projects.

What will you do?

Liaise with financial staff in other areas and collect data to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance
Perform reconciliations on tax accounts and review the biannual RRIF reconciliation
Review XML reconciliations for each applicable filing period
Prepare US tax filings, 1042S, 1099DIV, and other US tax forms as required, for the GRS block of business
Assist in review of tax administrative guidelines published by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Québec (RQ) to ensure our practices and procedures comply with current reporting requirements
Participate in yearend tax production and tax enhancement processes
Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of the trust returns (T3, T3D, T3P, & T3GR)

What do you need to succeed?

University degree with 36 years of experience or high school diploma with 610 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent analytical, communication and problemsolving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong attention to detail and superior customer focus
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines

Preferred:

Experience with GRS Products
Experience with Excel Macros and other advanced Excel functions
College or University Diploma or Degree in a related field

Unique requirements:

Vacation not permitted from January-March each year
Overtime may be required from January-March each year
