The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Facility Maintenance to join our Operations team.

Reporting to the Director, Parks and Facilities, this leadership role ensures the efficient operation and maintenance of City of Abbotsford facilities by performing and directing the work and all duties to assigned employees, contractors and other workgroup categories in such a manner that the work is carried out safely, efficiently and expeditiously.

The Manager will work with diverse teams to maintain and operate civic administration buildings, recreation centers, emergency services buildings and cultural buildings.


The Facility Maintenance Manager leads staff, contract service providers and other city work groups to ensure optimal maintenance of all facilities and equipment.

As a strategic thinker, they implement and monitor programs and plans for preventative maintenance & equipment replacement.

With a strong emphasis on customer service, they ensure maintenance work is communicated to and coordinated with building user groups to minimize and mitigate disruptions.

As an organizer, they oversee the administrative, supervisory and technical work in planning, coordinating and directing all facility maintenance (electrical, mechanical, structural, security, envelope, interior, etc.) operations in a diverse group of the City's facilities.

The Manager takes accountability for the facility maintenance budgets, preparing the annual operating budget and contributing to development of the annual capital renewal plan.

They oversee the delivery of the health and safety program to facility maintenance staff, and ensure the public safety of city facilities.

The successful applicant will have obtained a P.

Eng Certification or AST, or have a 2 year post-secondary Diploma in Engineering or Architectural and Building Technology or Applied Science for Engineering completed from a recognized technical school, college or university, along with course work completed in Business Administration, Contract Management, Facility Management/Maintenance and Operations, Project Management, or related field, or the equivalent experience and education may be considered.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility management/maintenance including sound supervisory experience, preferably in a municipal unionized environment is required.
