The Opportunity:


Key Accountabilities:


  • As an Safety Compliance Coordinator, a fundamental role is to work with the different businesses groups, including consultants and contractors to align Canadian Natural's safety culture (Safety is a core value / Safety is frontline driven) with our Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Participate in project planning meetings, area safety meetings, prejob safety meetings and conduct periodic field, facility and project tours to promote a safe working environment in all field areas
  • Work together with field operations, drilling & completions, and seismic operations as applicable for the district to address and resolve safety related matters, including guidance on regulations
  • You will have annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to complete

These annual KPI's include:
safety and safety code inspections for facilities, inspections for rigs, pipeline construction & ground disturbance activities, Worksite Safety Observations (WSO's) of service providers, consultants and all BU / Groups operating within the district, and finally facilitating emergency response (ER) tabletops or periodic major ER exercises

  • Conduct testing, evaluations and provide recommendations in relation to industrial hygiene and the mitigation of worker exposure to chemical & harmful substances
  • Evaluate incident, near miss, and WSO data to identify and effectively communicate trends
  • Finally, you will be expected to work with the BU / Groups to conduct necessary incident investigations as required, and steward the incident reporting process
  • Liaise with regulators as a Canadian Natural representative on safety related issues, participate in risk and hazard assessments required by legislation and work with leadership and field personal to implement SMS enhancements and new government regulations

  • Job location: Fort St. John, British Columbia


  • Shift schedule: 5x

  • Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
  • Company provided vehicle with discretionary driving privileges

Skills & Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of related oil and gas operations experience with a minimum of Grade 12 Education
  • Possess a personable and approachable demeanor, take the time to listen and work together to achieve results
  • Highly motivated, organized and maintains a personal accountability to deliver on expectations with mínimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and transparent effective communicator, both verbal and electronic
  • Formal Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) education and/or Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) is an asset
  • Working knowledge of provincial safety standards and regulations is an asset
