Job Function:
Perform payroll system processing services for employees and pensioners including validating data, testing system updates, and ensuring payroll processing jobs/interfaces completed on time.
Process payroll activities in accordance with payroll processing procedures, collective agreements, HR policies, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of data.
Maintain payroll system updates and distribute payroll information as needed and work collaboratively within the team.General:
- Support Payroll Supervisor with ad hoc requests to support the payroll function.
- Provide additional payroll processing support during high volume periods as directed by Payroll Supervisor.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Payroll Specialist or Payroll Supervisor on specific enquires regarding pay related matters.
Data Analysis:
- Develop and prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any escalated requests from Payroll Specialist or Payroll Supervisor.
- Develop and prepare reports to assist the Payroll Supervisor with payroll processing.
- Develop/create and prepare reports to assist the business with making strategic decisions.
Payroll Operations Technology:
- Provide feedback and recommendations on potential impacts of Payroll Operations changes on Technology and solutions to mitigate.
- Prepare payroll calendars & processing schedules for holidays.
- Create and execute mass transactions (e.g., mass salary changes, annual payments (i.e., OHIP), etc.) via HRDL, import/export EC/ LSMW in ECC.
- Gather and provide necessary requirements to assist HR Tech / IT Sustainment team to setup new/make changes to payroll requirements (e.g., new earning, deduction codes, yearend updates).
- Assist with special payroll related projects focused on streamlining processes/operations and implementing new payroll solutions/services.
- Support and participate in complex projects with multiple work streams and multiple stakeholders.
- SME in system testing including creation and execution of test scripts, defect resolution including optimization opportunities.
- Work with internal and external teams to manage the systems related processing (e.g., Sustainment, Batch, Finance, etc.)
Process Optimization:
- Prepare internal and external reporting to meet regulatory and management reporting requirements, while assist in optimizing processes and identifying cost efficiencies.
- Prepare/coordinate with monitor and maintain all Payrollrelated work instruction and documentation ensuring they are kept up to date with system releases.
Continuous Improvement:
- Advocate for and participate in continuous improvement., identify possible trends, risks, and business improvements.
Special Projects:
- Support special projects in support of various payroll initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required
Selection Criteria:
Education:
- Requires a knowledge of accounting and payroll principles related to payroll processing and reporting system in order to reconcile differences.
- Requires a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four year university education in human resources or accounting or by having the equivalent level of education.
Experience:
- Strong experience with SAP systems or SuccessFactors Employee Central and Service Now.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with staff, internal and external parties, prepare reports and update the system to reflect terms of Collective Agreements and company policies. A period of over 4 years and up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
