Under general supervision you will perform manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction, maintenance or operational functions.

Responsibilities_

  • Maintains, operates and inspects water distribution and wastewater collection system assets.
  • Performs water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions.
  • Ensures all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards, legislation and regulations.
  • Performs hand excavation, backfilling, restoration works, concrete work and pipe laying.
  • Cleans sewer mains, laterals and manholes of debris and sediment.
  • Maintains a neat appearance and performs duties in a way which conveys a "positive image' of the Region.
**_ Qualifications_

  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of jobrelated experience.
  • Minimum acceptable MOE certification is Water Distribution Class 1 and Wastewater Collections Operator-InTraining (OIT) certificates with a preference for progressive advancement of certification to the subsystem class level.
  • Meter Installers Certificate preferred.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers.
  • Must have a working knowledge of applicable regulation as it applies to compliance.
  • Must successfully complete mandatory renewal training.
  • Requirement to obtain Meter Installers Certificate
  • Physically able to perform requirements of the job.
  • Possess a Class "GZ" license in good standing with preference for "DZ".
  • Must be willing and available to work independently on shifts.
  • Testing may be required.
