LCS Summer Academy is currently recruiting for a Head of Waterfront to join our team.


Organizational Overview:


Founded in 1879, Lakefield College School is a leader among Canada's independent boarding and day schools and prides itself on its reputation for providing a strong, caring community, a well-rounded program, and a transformational student experience on one of the largest waterfront campuses in the country.

Of our total student population of 425, we have 280+ students who live on campus, coming from over 45 countries.

With 144 years of outdoor education experience, LCS Summer Academy provides fun and challenging programs for campers ages 6 to 18.

Each program is full of opportunities to learn in and through the outdoors on our 315-acre waterfront campus.

We believe strongly in nurturing the development of the whole person by focusing on community-minded leadership, character education, and environmental sustainability.


Position Summary:


Responsibilities:


  • Waterfront protocol development implementation and oversight alongside Coordinator of Athletics & Waterfront
  • Personnel training and oversight as it relates to waterfront activities alongside Coordinator of Athletics & Waterfront
  • Waterfront equipment oversight, maintenance, and repair in consultation with Manager, Outdoors Every Day
  • Regular student interaction and instruction at the waterfront

Qualifications and Education:


  • Completed or in final year of postsecondary education, or equivalent experience
  • Waterfront National Lifeguard Certification (NLS)
  • Previous experience working as a lifeguard (NLS certified)
  • Previous waterfront management experience
  • Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator's License
  • Current Certification for Standard First Aid & CPR C/AED
  • Ability to work with and instruct children and youth (ages 618)
  • Personal qualities: campercentred, collaborative, caring, enthusiastic, solutionoriented, strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational and communication skills

Each of the following certifications would be considered an asset:

  • Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, or NLS Instructor Certification
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Second language proficiency, ESL experience

Dates and schedule of contract:


  • June 19 to September 1, 202
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, as well as some weekend responsibilities
