    What you can expect in this role?

    As the AVP, Corporate Development at Definity, you will manage the company acquisition strategy development and execution. Reporting into the VP, Corporate Development, you'll play a crucial role in the development and execution of the carrier acquisition and broker investment strategies and oversee the management of the competitive analysis function. You will work with closely with internal and external partners on target identification, acquisition strategy development and transaction execution.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ability to lead transactions and projects
    • Source and execute carrier and broker acquisitions
    • Oversee acquisition strategy development with the Board of Directors and ELT
    • Identify, screen and rank targets
    • Develop financial models, including pro forma financials, return analysis and accretion / dilution metrics
    • Assessment / benchmarking of industry / competitive analysis
    • Oversee ad hoc analysis and reports across numerous business lines that support executive business and strategic decisions
    • Monitor and track performance of carrier and broker investments
    • Partner closely with cross-functional teams on due diligence and project management
    • Provide people leadership to Corporate Development team by way of embodying our company values and behaviours. Unwavering in care of team by inspiring others to drive better engagement, innovation and business outcomes.

    What do you bring to the role?

    Required Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in a related field of study (e.g. finance)
    • 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, corporate development or investment banking roles with proven record of M&A lifecycle deal execution
    • Sophisticated financial modelling skills, valuations of public and private companies,
    • Proven experience with negotiating transaction agreements, and managing due diligence / acquisition strategy development across numerous functions within an organization
    • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, and to excel under pressure
    • Excellent communication/presentation skills (both written and verbal) with experience presenting to senior leaders
    • Ability to manage high performing teams through complex transactions
    • Ability to complete deliverables and meet deadlines
    • Ability to produce and present business cases for complex financial transactions to non-financial audiences
    • Demonstrated technical skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Attention to detail and organized
    • Intellectual curiosity for Definity businesses and external environment
    • Demonstrated project management skills
    • Proven ability to develop meaningful relationships with potential counterparties and partners

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA and/or Masters in finance/accounting
    • CFA, CPA and/or CBV
    • P&C insurance industry experience is beneficial but not a requirement
