THE OPPORTUNITY

As the
Supervisor, you will report directly to the Manager of Surgical Services, Obstetrics, Ambulatory Care, Telemedicine and Medical Reprocessing.

You will work in collaboration with professional practice team members, the organizations leadership team, professional staff, and inter-professional staff to coordinate, lead, and support the organizational development of education supporting the strategic vision and direction of GBGH.

While engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders, in this role you will develop and implement programs to ensure the provision of safe, quality patient care and will assist in creating inter professional practice environments that foster creativity, growth, professional judgment, and best practice standards.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and facilitate the daytoday operations of the operating room, obstetrics, ambulatory care units, and MDRD
  • Collaborate with unit managers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth workflow, optimal patient outcomes, and adherence to established protocols and standards
  • Monitor and manage resources, including equipment, supplies, and staffing, to meet patient care needs effectively
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and training sessions for staff members in the operating room, obstetrics, ambulatory care settings, and MDRD
  • Provide orientation for new staff members and ongoing education for existing staff to enhance clinical skills, promote best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for staff members, offering guidance and support in clinical decisionmaking, patient care management, and professional development
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes in the operating room, obstetrics, ambulatory care units, and MDRD
  • Collect and analyze data related to clinical outcomes, patient experiences, and process metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement evidencebased interventions
  • Collaborate with quality improvement teams and committees to implement best practices, monitor performance indicators, and achieve quality goals
  • Conduct impact analysis to determine training and education activity and program interdependencies (e.g. technical Expanse systems use, orientation, accreditation, hand hygiene, new or updated care and treatment standards) and keep staff updated with new practices, skills, and certifications in assigned clinical areas
  • Develop reports of staff disciplinary actions for submission to regulatory health professional colleges and professional associations in collaboration with Manager and Clinical Director
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols relevant to the operating room, obstetrics, ambulatory care units, and MDRD
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members, promoting a culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and accountability
  • Serve as a liaison between your teams and other departments or external stakeholders, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination of care

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred
  • Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) and/or obstetric nursing preferred
  • Minimum 35years experience in Surgical Services, Obstetrics, Ambulatory Care and Medical Reprocessing
  • Demonstrated experience in adult education to design, deliver and evaluate educational programs
  • Experience with clinical and educational program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience with continuous quality improvement methods
  • Medical Reprocessing Certificate and Perioperative Certificate required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications and PALS
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, be selfdirected and manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated competency assessment, facilitation, mentorship, and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assess needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and outcome indicators
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively wit
