COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

(Contract, July March 2024, $ $27.61/hour)
In 2023, the City of Pickering is embarking on several strategies to guide community services for the
future. This includes the Recreation and Parks Master Plan, the Cultural Strategic Plan and planning
for the Pickering Heritage and Community Centre at the Pickering Museum Village. The Community
Engagement Coordinator will support the Director, Community Services, and work with the culture
and community programming teams in developing and implementing community engagement
activities in the Summer of 2023 for implementation in fall. The Community Engagement Coordinator
will track and report on survey results from LetsTalkPickering; design, develop and implement
engagement activities to seek input from the public at community services events; and coordinate and
assist with planning community charrettes and focus groups to gather input.

With the new Pickering Heritage and Community Centre (coming 2026) the museum will be
transitioning from a living history museum to a multi-disciplinary museum, telling a wider range of
stories and including a larger variety of cultural histories in programming and experiences.
Consultation will help inform the future direction of the museum.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, business administration, arts administration,
cultural management, community development or similar program.

  • Previous practical experience working in communications is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, and capable of working to a high degree of detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is an asset.
