DESCRIPTION


The Regional Cancer Program Manager will work within a provincial and regional framework, with multiple community partners and organizations to drive quality improvement work aimed at enhancing access, equity, health transformation, and sustainability.


The manager provides leadership and has the responsibility for the oversight and management of the integrated cancer screening program which is inclusive of cancer prevention, smoking cessation program at Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario and Kingston Health Sciences Centre sites as well as regional cancer screening activities through the ColonCancerCheck program, Ontario Breast Screening Program, cervical cancer screening, and the High Risk Ontario Breast Screening Program.

Additionally, management and oversight of the South East Indigenous Cancer program, the patient education program, the psychosocial oncology program, symptom management program and other programs as identified with KHSC, SERCP and CCO strategy.


The manager will support the progress of the annual regional cancer program strategy, collaborate with the South East Regional Oncology Program Leads on their annual plans and support all regional quality improvement initiatives.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES:


  • Fostering relationships and facilitating collaboration amongst regional partners to achieve target volumes by monitoring trends and escalating challenges to the Program Operational Director.
  • Acts as an escalation point for issues at the local and regional level for relevant programs.
  • Resource management and program development through identification of program needs, administers monitors and evaluates activities, manages the program budget and resources, and consults with content experts in the creation and implementation of new initiatives. Includes the development of local and regional business plans.
  • Human resource development with staff while creating a positive culture by providing coaching and performance reviews, implementing strategies to enhance team effectiveness, collaborative decision making (when appropriate) and effective communication.
  • Facilitates collaboration within the region to drive the aims of the Ontario Cancer Plan and the Cancer Care Ontario Indigenous Cancer Strategy as well as the South East Regional Cancer Plan and the South East Indigenous Cancer Plan in alignment with the KHSC strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University Degree in a health care related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in health or in a health carerelated discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in a health care setting
  • 2 years demonstrable experience in a leadership role within healthcare
  • Proven experience with promotion, education and cancer screening initiatives in a health care setting
  • Knowledge and expertise in program and project evaluation
  • Experience with project management/budget planning
  • Patient and family centered care / engagement experience.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environments: both collaborating and motivating multiple groups and stakeholders while also working effectively in projects
  • Ability to assess regional needs, formulate plans to address needs and to implement and evaluate initiatives
  • Working knowledge of the South East region and the relevant stakeholders involved in cancer prevention and screening programs
  • Understanding of the Ontario Cancer System and the Ontario Cancer Plan
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills and evidence based practice
  • Originality in methods and solutions to positively impact cancer program performance targets
  • Skills in epidemiology, community need assessment, program planning, program evaluations, data management, and health promotion including social marketing, community development, and healthy public policy.
  • Superior time management skills
  • Proven Computer skills (Excel level 2, Word level 2, PowerPoint, Outlook) will be tested
  • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal, consultative and presentation)
  • Commitment to the growth and development of self and others
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.
