    Description

    Overview

    Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care following the standards of nursing practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Michael Garron Hospital. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident/patients' needs, especially those on ventilator and requiring total nursing care. Must have a good understanding of both dependent and independent nursing practices within a professional team.

    Education

    - Registered Nurse with a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
    - BScN preferred.
    - CNA certification preferred.
    - BLS certificate required.
    - Gerontology certificate considered an asset.
    - Critical Care certification is beneficial.
    - Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) certificate is advantageous.

    Qualifications

    - Recent experience in LTC/chronic care setting, dealing with continuous complex care patients, cognitive support, and short-term Rehabilitation program.
    - Prior experience with patients on ventilation in chronic care.
    - Previous involvement in caring for patients with dementia and BPSD.
    - Proficient in promoting residents/patients' optimal functioning.
    - Skilled in peripheral IV insertions and peripheral vascular access device nursing care.
    - Experience in leadership roles.
    - Familiarity with feeding pumps, enteral feeds, oxygen administration, skin wound management, intermittent catheterization, and tracheal suctioning.
    - Knowledge of PICC/Central lines management.
    - Strong ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
    - Exhibits leadership qualities and effective interpersonal skills.
    - Driven to pursue educational achievements.
    - Excellent communication and observation skills.
    - Superior organizational abilities.
    - Satisfactory work attendance record is mandatory.

    - Responsibility for fostering a culture of patient and staff safety by following MGH's safety policies and procedures.
    - Accountable for promoting psychological health and safety by complying with MGH's policies and practices.
