- Auditing pay changes using PeopleSoft HRIS software, for both employee and non-employee payments of all contract types;
- Ensuring payments have sufficient authorizations and follow the terms and conditions outlined in our various collective agreements, college policies and procedures;
- Running full-cycle bi-weekly pay processing steps from time collection to payment disbursements; This includes troubleshooting technical issues and escalating requests that fall outside of policy;
- Monitoring and adjusting employee deductions;
- Aggregating timesheet submissions and exception time reporting and preparing this data for electronic upload;
- Ensuring earnings and deductions are reported correctly for year-end slips;
- Post-pay reporting, remittances and reconciliations as assigned;
- Participating in ongoing project work including attending meetings, performing testing and change implementation;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- 3-year diploma/degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study;
- 5 years of payroll processing experience (Equivalency will be considered);
- PCP Designation from the National Payroll Institute is required;
- Must be well versed in the Microsoft Office Suite with advanced excel skills; Experience using Macros is considered an asset;
- Strong knowledge with large in-house Payroll systems, PeopleSoft HCM is preferred;
- Experience in interpreting collective agreements;
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and compliance with CRA legislation in performing the payroll function;
- Experience with accounting principles, mathematical calculations, and general ledger distributions will also be considered an asset.

We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team for a 6-month contract. The Payroll Specialist provides a high level of customer service and applies knowledge of payroll-related legislation, college policy, and established processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely end-to-end pay processing for employees and other payees. The scope and nature of payroll in the college environment is extensive and varied and requires a broad understanding of various employment scenarios, earnings types, taxation requirements, and the ability to apply professional expertise and judgment.What You'll Be Doing
