Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families is a multi service non-profit organization serving Inuit children and youth and their families.

Inuuqatigiit Centre is dedicated to providing cultural, educational, and support services in a caring, respectful, and collaborative environment that fosters strong and proud Inuit children and families.

***Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Manager of Youth Programs is responsible to manage and promote all youth programs and services in compliance with relevant legislation, Inuuqatigiit Centre policies and procedures while supporting the vision and mandate of Inuuqatigiit Centre.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and manage the Youth staff, project/program workplan(s) and implementation of program(s),
  • Integrate Inuit culture and language in all aspects of programming.
  • Work in collaboration with other IC teams to manage processes and protocols in Youth Programs.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of staff in the Youth department.
  • Manage staff in resolving issues that arise in delivery of Youth services and programs.
  • Liaise with other directors and managers, report issues and introduce appropriate corrective measures as required as per policy(s).
  • Manage and help with reports, records, and statistics on projects, surveys, incidents and accidents.
  • Oversee proposal development and support staff in the writing of proposals and program reports.
  • Conduct and oversee program evaluations.
  • Provide narrative reports to the Director of Programs for the Executive Director on Youth Programs/projects as required and in a timely fashion.
  • In partnership with HR, assist in the hiring process for youth staff in keeping with policies and procedures.
  • Work with youth project/program coordinators and support them in their role as supervisors.
  • Provide regular feedback, acknowledge success and the need for improvement.
  • Oversee the process for annual performance reviews and address ineffective performance.
  • Develop funding proposals in collaboration with team members.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for youth projects/programs and work closely with project/program staff and the finance department to monitor expenditures.
  • Oversee youth project/program purchases in collaboration with Coordinators while following financial procedures.
  • Represent IC at meetings, presentations and conferences.
  • Engage with various agencies and stakeholders to strengthen youth programs and services.
  • Establish relationships that benefit the delivery of quality youth programs and services.
  • Adhere to and promote the mandate and mission of the IC.
  • Work with staff to ensure that projects/programs are promoted within the community and oversee the development of appropriate promotional and information resources.
  • Other duties as required.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Accountable for the effective and efficient management of youth programs and services in keeping with funder and partner agreements.
  • Accountable for the safety and security of youth participants and IC youth staff
  • Accountable for the provision of support services to Youth and their families
  • Accountable for managing youth program, human and financial resources in an effective manner.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Develop supportive and professional rapport with Inuuqatigiit Centre staff.
  • Guide staff through conflict resolution when required.
  • Develop positive relationships with youth participants and parents at IC.

  • Create atmosphere of teamwork and act as role model in motivating youth teams.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the management team of IC.

EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Communicate regularly with partners, funders and other stakeholders.
  • Guide staff in communications with youth, parents and partners

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field or an acceptable equivalency
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in:
  • project/program management,
- o community planning, outreach, program delivery and quality assurance,
- o effectively managing human and financial resources, and
- o working with Inuit or Indigenous communities
- o youth mental health trauma informed practices


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational, problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to function well in a highpaced and fastpaced environment.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills primarily in English, Inuktitut is considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) and accounting software.
