The Chief Power Engineer reports to the Manager, Maintenance & Operations.Is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation/maintenance of all equipment in the central heating plant, three central refrigeration units and auxiliary equipment at the Victoria General Hospital site, also for the supply of steam to APSEA and the IWK Children's hospital...
Licensed Inter – Provincial FirstClass Power Engineer# Operation, maintenance and repairs of boilers, generators, pumps, controls and other auxiliary equipment.
# Staff scheduling, supervisor skills, project planning and supervision of equipment repairs and projects.
# Experience in budgeting, safety and dealing with Provincial and National regulatory requirements for Power Engineers and pressure equipment.
# Knowledge in use of data collection and reporting systems and other related Preventive Maintenance software programs.
# Must have well developed computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
# The ability to identify equipment faults and find or develop solutions that maintain the safe and continuous operation of critical hospital systems.
# Must be prepared to describe power plant procedures and collection of data used in the steam billing process for external customers to consultants, finance, customer representatives and senior management.
# Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
