_Started in 1994, Sierra Construction Group has grown our services from Infrastructure projects to include professional divisions focused on Design-Build, Construction Management, General Contracting, Bridges, and Aggregates to better serve customers across Ontario.
_- Our Manager, Human Resources will provide Human Resources consultation, management and support and will act as a key business partner and resource for an employee population in a construction environment. This position is responsible for promoting and supporting the organization's values and culture. This position will be responsible for a wide array of duties that include recruitment, selection and retention, communication, employee relations, union relations, orientation, and overall HR support. _
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day to day operation and administration of the HR function
- Deal with management and employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
- Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees
- Manage and promote positive employee relations environment.
- Provide key support and coaching to managers and supervisors on a wide range of issues and/or initiatives.
- Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, employee concerns, grievances, performance evaluations, etc.)
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Provide oversight for absentee management, WSIB, LTD claims and return to work programs.
- Facilitate the development of a safe, participative, flexible, and open work environment that reflects the ethics and values of company
- Act as Management Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Assist in payroll preparation in conjunction with Finance by providing relevant data (absences, attendance, leaves, clockin and out, vacation, appointments and garnishees, etc.)
- Assists in the negotiation of union collective bargaining
- Administers the collective agreement and handles labour grievances and disputes
- Ensure all necessary employment laws and regulations and union contracts are followed
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum University Degree or Community College Diploma. CHRL Preferred.
- Certified Member Training in Health and Safety is a bonus.
- Strong knowledge of employment and labour laws.
BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
- 3 plus years in Human Resources in a unionized environment, preferably in construction
- Knowledge and understanding of all appropriate legislation (i.e., ESA, OH&S, Human Rights Act, Labour Relations, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of compensation and benefits programs
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases
Job Types:

$95,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
