Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager/ Supervisor on all matters.

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for all Quality Audits, Non-Conforming Reports (NCR), rejected material, quality control, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities at all stages of operation.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Technology, Industrial or equivalent is preferred; and
  • Yellow Belt Six Sigma, SQE or CQT Certification is a strong asset.
Years of Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing and fabrication in a related field.
Working Conditions

  • May require heavy lifting, working indoors, and abiding by the safety rules of the plant;
  • To the extent that any site visits are required, work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises;
  • Onsite work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions;
  • Wearing PPE is mandatory in the plant facility;
  • Follow Health and Safety Standards; and
  • Flexible to work overtime as required.
Intermediate Level

  • Intermediate level position for incumbents wishing to pursue a career in Quality Assurance/Production Management;
  • Detail oriented with the ability to reach architectural drawings;
  • Demonstrated work experience utilizing qualityrelated tools and methods;
  • Familiarity with PPAP production part approval processes and documentation, with a technical aptitude for assessing nonconforming material, parts, and subassemblies.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers, customers, management, and peers;
  • Detailed knowledge of extrusion processes for mills and profiles, window walls, Curtain walls and door fabrication or installation;
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problemsolving skills;
  • Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work on many projects that are large and complex;
  • Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment, and
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
Job Specific Duties

  • Inspect products as per specified requirements, standards and specifications;
  • Create and update quality Inspection log sheets, quality alerts and Standard work instructions. Knowledge to use measuring equipment's in metric and imperial;
  • Conduct the quality audits and update the log. Ensure all supplier issues are logged NCR's created and forwarded to the suppliers. Maintain the evidence folder daily basis.
  • Assist with the implementation of the new products on the shop floor;
  • Update the daily Quality metrics at the morning Gemba Walk;
  • Conduct the calibration & ensure all equipment's calibrated per the schedule.
  • Update the weekly Quality metrics if required;
  • Review and conduct project site inspections to ensure proper quality and installation of the product when required;
  • Lead problemsolving events related to product improvement per the plan using root cause analysis technique.
  • Provide Technical Support on quality issues; and
  • Other tasks assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager.
