Job Summary:


In consultation with the Program Manager, the Rehabilitation Care Worker supports persons with disabilities by providing life skills training and support services for clients regarding issues such as personal care, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing a weekly schedule.

The Rehabilitation Care Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary.


Qualifications:


  • Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population in a group home setting
  • Emergency first aid or equivalent, CPR level A
  • Relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Skills And Abilities:


  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively including patients/residents, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to teach, demonstrate, and instruct.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Positions is for casual coverage, We are currently looking for applicants to work in two locations:

  • 24 hour group home with maximum of 6 clients (Current needs: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 7am-11pm)
  • 8am to 10pm Apartments program with 15 clients living semiindependently (Current needs: Sunday-Saturday, 8am 4pm and 2pm 10pm)

Experience:

- supportive care: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:
