We are looking for an experienced Financial Analyst to join our corporate finance team. If you have a background in accounting, are inquisitive, love solving mysteries, and are looking for an amazing new career, this is the opportunity for you

Summary


Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring adherence to financial plans /policies and accounting practices, the maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports and analysis including daily bank reconciliations.


Job Duties

  • Prepare and report WSIB and HST Remittance calculations
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations
  • Complete daily cash reconciliations
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all bank accounts (bank and brokerage accounts)
  • Completing month end journal entries including amortization, accruals, prepaid expenses, inventory valuations, shareholder accounting, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to month end procedures in a timely manner
  • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
  • Maintain uptodate, complete and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records
  • Ad hoc financial analysis (i.e., Jet reporting)
  • Assist with financial audit
  • Inventory reconciliations
  • Knowledge in developing tools for optimizing analysis for financial documents
  • Weekly operations reporting
  • Variance analysis
  • Assistant with budget and forcasts
  • Liase with key operational personnel to provide support as needed
  • Key user for developing Point of Sale (POS) systems

Requirements:


  • Minimum accounting certificate or diploma
  • Working towards designation is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a Financial Analyst/Accountant is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of computerized accounting systems (ERP, Microsoft Navision an asset)
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level Excel)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable communicating with various types of individuals
  • Good team player
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
  • Technical accounting skills

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Overtime as required
  • Lifting or moving up to 20 lbs may be required
