fairness for all British Columbians.

The Deputy Ombudsperson plays a pivotal role in leading the Office of the Ombudsperson to successfully deliver on its statutory and non-statutory mandates as well as ensuring the Office is seen as an effective, independent and impartial oversight agency that has public trust and confidence.

To achieve these goals the Deputy Ombudsperson exercises considerable statutory powers delegated by the Ombudsperson under section 30 of the Ombudsperson Act.

Reporting directly to the Ombudsperson, the Deputy Ombudsperson fulfills three key strategic functions for the Ombudsperson.

The first is providing operational leadership and direction to the Office of the Ombudsperson in strategic outreach including preventative ombudship, and championing diversity, inclusion and equity related strategies.

This requires a commitment to corporate entrepreneurship.

It involves developing, implementing, overseeing and evaluating activities that execute the Office's strategic corporate agenda to ensure effective program delivery.

As well, it requires leadership of continuous process and service delivery improvement.

The second is providing expert and authoritative advice and guidance to Directors and Managers in delivering publicly targeted information, communication, resources, and reports and leading externally facing initiatives.

The third is to support the Ombudsperson directly by fostering strong relationships with counterparts and stakeholders throughout the public service delivery community in British Columbia to facilitate strategic level constructive and consultative resolutions to problems of administrative unfairness and to promote speak-up culture.

As BC's independent voice for fairness, our Office's work is challenging, meaningful, and rewarding. Join us and become part of a team that is proud of the work we do. Find out more information about what we offer here.
