At Bell, we do more than build world-class networks, develop innovative services and create original multiplatform media content - we advance how Canadians connect with each other and the world.

If you're ready to bring game-changing ideas to life and join a community that values, professional growth and employee wellness, we want you on the Bell team.

The Bell Mobility team offers the best and latest mobile devices, wireless services and Internet of Things solutions to consumer and business customers, with the top speeds, coverage and reliability on Canada's Best National Network.

We love to innovate, embrace big challenges, and live for the newest technology

Role:

We are looking for dynamic technicians to support the operations of Bell Mobility's radio networks dedicated to public safety, particularly for police officers, firefighters and paramedics.

In your duties, you will report to the engineering team and you will be responsible for testing in the laboratory and then performing remote updates/upgrades of various equipment in production on the networks.

To succeed in this position, you must have the ability to quickly understand, learn to work with new technologies and even optimize new procedures that are both safer and more efficient.

In the end, you have to excel in the accomplishment of simultaneous projects and demonstrate a good sense of synthesis and discernment during major incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble the systems in the laboratory and test them before commissioning on the network
  • Test the proper functioning of new hardware and/or software versions of network equipment in the laboratory
  • Propose, document and test the method of procedure (MOP) for each new hardware and/or software version in production with minimum customer impact. MOP also to be tested in the laboratory before execution into production
  • Complete test results in a compact report ready for approval
  • Execute equipment replacement MOPs to new hardware version by remotely directing and supervising field technicians
  • Execute the update/upgrade MOPs yourself remotely to the new software version and direct the road technicians to carry out the proper functioning tests afterwards
  • Perform and experiment various laboratory tests of all user network and radio equipment in order to better understand the behavior of the equipment in different customer operating scenarios
  • Remain available on call to support both field technicians and control center technicians at all times in troubleshooting technical difficulties, incidents or outages.
  • Make periodic backups of equipment configuration as well as before and after each change or replacement
  • Improve systems and/or ways of doing things to prevent problems from recurring and to improve service restoration times during outages
  • Keep the control center regularly informed of the progress of any work performed on the network so that it can inform customers

Critical Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in information technology and telecommunications
  • At least five years of experience in the management of servers and telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls and radiofrequency equipment
  • Good knowledge of how IP protocols work
  • Ability to analyze equipment logs as well as IP traces (Wireshark)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint including Visio
  • Strong skills in analyzing and solving complex problems
  • Selfmotivated and able to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
